Rock River, Rockford to Byron - 2007/10/24 10:39
This past weekend, Jeff, Evelyn and I made the Stateline Paddlers trip from Blackhawk park in southern Rockford (below the Fordam dam) to the roadside rest area just north of Byron. Lots of waterflow made this normally very shallow part of the river deep and fast. At times we were making over 6 mph with very easy paddling!
Tons of islands on this stretch, would have to make this paddle several times to see most of the river, doubt that you'd ever see it all. Lost count of the number of islands and this is only an 8 mile trip. Very pretty stretch of river, you should try it
