another new kayak coming - 2007/10/24 20:41 Just now finishing up my 2nd. new kayak for the year (got plans for a third for this winter), this one is a modified skin boat, Tom Yost design, look on the web for Yostwerks.com, this one is a modified Sea Ranger design, I added a foot to the overall length for a total of 18 1/2' with a 19 1/2" beam. I also added a now standard keyhole cockpit mostly since I had an unused skirt and cockpit cover that size, also because I wanted it to be easy to fall out of <g>, afterall it is 19 1/2 inches wide

If you're out and about at Pierce Lake next week and see an all dark brown greenland kayak, you'll know who it is, come say hi.

Re:another new kayak coming - 2007/11/03 09:03 After a very short paddle, perhaps a mile or so, with way too much big boat traffic on the Rock River today I finally paddled the new boat. No I didn't instantly roll it

For such a narrow boat it's fairly stable (for a 19" wide boat), too tippy though to play with in 50 degree water though. It's also fairly fast. Unless I manage to make a trip south this fall/winter it'll probably wait for warmer weather here. Sure is light to carry though

Re:another new kayak coming - 2007/11/03 09:05 Ok, I'm bad, I know I need to post pictures. I'm leaving for the east coast to visit friends middle of next week, if we get a nice day after that I'll get the boats out (hopefully not in snow) and get some pictures.
