For several years, Tom and his paddling partner Bob Tyler have paddled as many different rivers as possible. Tom will present videos of all time favorites and some recent paddles in both Illinois and Wisconsin, all within a relatively short drive from the Rockford area.

Tom Lindblade has been a Counselor and Experiential Educator for over forty years. For twenty five of those years he taught in and coordinated a community college experiential learning Program. He has led field studies which have taken students to fifty countries and many wilderness areas of North America. Since retirement, Tom continues to teach and lead field studies. He is active on several Boards, and trains Canoe Instructors for The American Canoe Association.

Attend a program for the whole family from 3:30-4:30pm presented by Kenny Salway, Tales of a River Rat.Kenny is the legendary Last River Rat and famed storyteller, a he will present a collection of his "rat tales," sure to delight, inform, and entertain. Modern-day American hermit who has lived most of his life in the Mississippi River bottoms, Kenny knows the river ecosystem with an intimacy unavailable to most. He will share his love of, and knowledge about the mighty river. You'll gain a new perspective on what it means to live with the rhythm of nature.
Known as the Woodsman of the Mississippi Backwaters, he's a hunter, trapper, outdoor guide, and self-sufficient woodsman.
Kenny is said to have cut his teeth on a canoe paddle seasoned in Mississippi mud. He's a Mississippi River guide for hunting, fishing, and nature watching; a storyteller; and an environmental educator. You won't want to miss him! Kenny will have books for sale and signing at his program.
